GCSE PE

Starting from September 2016 students will follow the OCR Physical Education course.
GCSE Option contact time is 5 hours per fortnight. The theory topics followed are:

Applied anatomy and physiology
Movement analysis
Physical training
Sport psychology 

BTEC Sport and Health

BTEC contact time is 5 hours per fortnight.
Students will complete Unit 1 – Fitness for Sport and Exercise and Unit 2 – Practical Sports Performance.

Year 11
Core PE
Lesson contact time is 4 hours per fortnight. The topics followed are:

HRF Invasion Games
Net Wall Games OAA
Striking and Fielding Games  Trampolining

 

GCSE PE

GCSE Option contact time is 5 hours per fortnight. The theory topics followed are:

  • Health, fitness and well-being 
  • Types of exercise
  • Effects of exercise
  • Fitness and training
  • Analysing performance
  • Personal Exercise Planning

 

BTEC Sport

BTEC contact time is 5 hours per fortnight.
Students will complete Unit 5 – Training for Personal Fitness and Unit 6 – Leading Sports Activities.

Black tracksuit bottoms or shorts

Qualifications
The current year 11 pupils are following the Edexcel Physical Education course.  This course is assessed by examinations at the end of Year 11.  The exam is based on one theory paper  (May 2017) and a practical exam in 4 sports (April 2017).  Further details are available from the examination board here: www.edexcel.org
The OCR Physical Education course is assessed by examinations at the end of Year 11.  The exam is based on Two Theory papers and a practical exam in 3 sports.  The 3 sports must be on the approved list and the pupils need to be seen in regular competitive situations under competitive pressure in authentic performance situations.  Further details are available from the examination board here:  www.ocr.org.uk
