GAA Academy supports many charities in the form of raising funds and donating items to help those in need, to give them a better quality of life and in some instances a warm meal.
Most of the Academy fund raising is student led. Students express an interest to raise funds, some due to personal reasons and some just to show they care. Working with staff, students put together a plan of action for their activity to ensure it is implemented correctly, safely and the event has the maximum impact and publicity for their chosen charity.
Great Academy Ashton is fundraising to send 30 students to Ecuador in the summer of 2020 with Camps International. The students going are tasked with raising £4340 each to fund their trip, during which they will support various charitable efforts in rural and mountainous Ecuador. From building school desks for local children to re-forestation projects in the Amazon Rainforest GAA students will make a massive difference to the lives of many.
For them, the benefits are in the commitment they must make to raise the funds themselves through sponsorship or fundraising activities and the incredible opportunity to develop their leadership skills, practical abilities, teamwork and experience – supporting them is an investment in the young people of Ashton, their futures and ambitions as well as a donation to support communities in need in Ecuador itself.
You can donate to our general fund or sponsor an individual student if you name them in your message – and we will be recording and publicising the trip itself in 2020 so you can see exactly what your funds have allowed.
